Andorra is a small principality nestled in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. There is only one road in from France and another from Spain. A tax free haven, people come from all over the region to shop. Known for great skiing, we visited in the off season and managed to get a fabulous deal on a mountaintop hotel and spa – Grau Roig.
After nearly two weeks in a simple room, we enjoyed a night in luxury. Our room had a HUGE wooden bathtub big enough for both of us. Oh yeah….I took full advantage of having the massive tub all to myself! Bliss! The room looked out over the ski lifts near the top of the mountain and we were lulled to sleep by the sound of cow bells. Sheer bliss.
Another huge plus about the hotel was the restaurant. Dinner was outstanding and the breakfast buffet the next morning was quite possibly the biggest and most extensive we’ve ever seen. I enjoyed a reflexology session in the spa along with time in the pool and hot tub…really I could have stayed another night! But onwards!
After some shopping we continued to head south and popped out of Andorra on the Spanish border. We headed for Alella near Barcelona where my brother Jason, his partner Amber and our little niece recently relocated.
